Steve Donnelly receives an Olympus TG-6 waterproof

On behalf of CAPA, Gerry Alger (District Rep_ made a presentation on Thursday, March 5th to London Camera Club member Steve Donnelly. Steve was the third place winner in the ‘My Country/Mon pays Exposition/Exhibition’ conducted by the Musée National de la Photographie Desjardins in January. I presented Steve with an Olympus TG-6 waterproof camera.

On behalf of Steve please extend thanks to the Musée, to Olympus and, of course to CAPA. Steve felt most honoured.

More from Gerry’s presentation:

“Canada My Country” is the title of one of CAPA’s photo competitions each spring. The most recent was last April.
Like several other London Camera Club members, Steve Donnelly holds an individual membership in CAPA. As such, Steve is eligible to participate in CAPA’s Individual Competitions. (Which, by the way, he does on a regular basis.)

Here were the results of the Apr. 30th competition. In last May’s awards presentation Steve received CAPA’s Silver Medal for this portfolio. The gold medal winner had a total score of 110.5. Steve’s score was just ½ point back. 167 Individual members from across Canada entered into this competition and submitted 638 images. 638 is an important number to keep in mind.

The Musée National de la Photographie Desjardins is located in Drummondville Quebec. (It is the only Photographic museum of its kind in Canada.) The museum has several photo exhibitions every year where large photos are exhibited in the gallery. The current exhibit, entitled “My Country/ Mon pays” is co-sponsored by the museum, by CAPA and by Olympus cameras. This show is currently running. It opened Jan. 20th and closes the end of March.

CAPA judges were to submit 39 of the best images from 638 judged in last April’s competition. There were to be three images from each province and three from each territory in Canada. These 39 images were printed 16X24, mounted, then displayed in the salon gallery.

Steve’s two Manitoba images (polar bear and inukshuk) were chosen to represent Manitoba. The best 3 of the 39 images in the show were selected by a panel of 3 judges – the managing director of the Musée, the head of Olympus North America Sales and Rod Trider as CAPA President. Olympus generously donated cameras to the top three images makers.

Steve Donnelly’s image titled “Polar Bear Churchill” was the third-place finisher overall. Steve wins an Olympus Tough TG-6 Waterproof camera.
