Fraser Valley Invitational 2018
18th Annual Fraser Valley Invitational
Connections image by Pat Ellingson
The public is welcome to attend the Langley Camera Club’s annual Fraser Valley Invitational photo competition on Saturday, May 13 at Clayton Heights Secondary in Surrey. The theme this year is Connections – between people, animals or objects, displayed in photographs that are interesting as well as technically and artistically excellent. Join photography friends, meet new photography enthusiasts, check out fantastic local talent and maybe even win a cool door prize.
Each club chooses 10 of its member’s photos to showcase in the competition. Three judges, all award-winning, professional photographers in the local, national and international arenas, choose the best photos of the night with awards going to both clubs and individuals. And every person who attends gets to cast a vote for the People’s Choice award.
One of the most exciting things about this event,” LCC president, Kasandra Sproson, says, “is it’s the best work from almost every club in the lower mainland and Fraser Valley. It’s our biggest annual event. I always find it very inspiring.
This year’s door prizes are still a secret but if 2017 is anything to go by, they’re well worth the price of admission. Last year, there was a Nikon camera in the mix, along with camera bags and other bits and pieces every photographer appreciated. Everyone who comes through the door is in the draw.
The Langley Camera Club was established in 1961 and is one of the largest and most active clubs in the lower mainland. With an emphasis on learning and developing photography skills through hands-on workshops and meet-ups, the Langley Camera Club is always excited to join together with other local clubs at this photography-rich annual event.
When: Saturday, May 12, 2018, 7:30 pm, doors open at 6:30 pm
Where: Clayton Heights Secondary, 7003, 188 St, Surrey, BC
The 2018 Red River Exhibition Photo Salon is now open for entries. This competition is open to all Canadians, with categories for both print and digital images.
